Back at Pulau Tekukor with turtle find

After 6 years, I finally set foot at Pulau Tekukor again! My last survey here was in 2010.
 

The natural rocky coastline is a prominent feature of this untouched island that sits right across Sentosa and St John's Island.

My first trip to Pulau Tekukor

It's my first time visiting the island of spectacular natural coastline which I was previously exclaiming about! I'm able to set foot on Tekukor with the permit for Mei Lin's giant clam project. Otherwise, this island is actually closed to the public.


One of the interesting things of the day's trip will be the numerous number of fishes in the tide pools. Probably my first time seeing so many of them!

Tekukor Coastline

Tekukor? Where on earth is this place?


This is Tekukor... Pulau Tekukor. The coastline looks spectacular, is this island somewhere in Malaysia?

No! It's in Singapore. This mysterious or unfamiliar island is nearer to Singapore as compared to St John's Island or Kusu Island. In fact, it is only a stone's throw away from Sentosa.


Though the opposite side of Tekukor has been concretized with breakwaters, it is such a relief that the natural coastline of this side of the island has been left untouched.


Well, many Singaporeans, or in fact most Singaporeans do not know the existence of such a beautiful island!


Another island which I have never gotten a chance to set foot will be this mysterious Pulau Salu which also seems to have majestic natural cliffs and coastlines too. I bet the marine life there is also fantastic.

Dolphins spotted off Tekukor

Just less than an hour ago, my friends and I spotted three wild pink dolphins off Pulau Tekukor! And it was the first time Pamela and I see them in our local waters! Wow.

I was happily taking photos of Pulau Tekukor when Mei Lin suddenly tapped me hard to tell me there's a group of three pink dolphins on the other side of the boat. It was around 8.36am.

Unfortunately, when I saw the dolphins, it was the last time they surfaced. Pamela said they surfaced for three to four times. Sorry that I don't have photos or videos to share. You can still check out Siyang's photos and videos from his sighting during 2007 off St John's Island.

The arrow shows the rough location of the sighting just off Tekukor. It was exciting and definitely unforgettable!
