Ringed sap-sucking slug

On one of our trips last year, I came across this tiny slug which we have not seen in Singapore before!

With the help of Chay Hoon's identification, we found out that it is the Ringed sap-sucking slug (Plakobranchus sp.).

Back to Tanah Merah sandy shore

Probably the last evening tide trip for me before the morning tide returns, I joined some friends to have a look at the sandy shore at Tanah Merah. The last time we visited this shore was June last year.

This shore is very rich because it has many sand dollars (caught the joke?). With the setting sun and the sand patterns, the shore is charming and gives us a sense of peace apart from the busy lifestyles of most Singaporeans.

Guiding students at Semakau

I had an excellent trip to Semakau on Sunday to guide a group of male students from Xinmin Secondary School.

Here's our group named Goby. Joining us is Mr Pah (at the second from left) who is a history teacher of the boys. Don't be deceived by his teaching subject... he is also interested in marine life!

Two new nudi sightings for me!

After a long month of absence from the shores, I am back this time at Semakau to do guiding. Yes, I haven't guided at Semakau for more than half a year. Therefore, I was pretty excited about today's trip.

My excitement materialized partly to be two first-time nudibranch sightings for me personally, though some others may have seen them before.

The first nudibranch is the Varicose phyllid nudibranch (Phyllidia varicosa)! It is bigger than the other usual phyllid nudibranchs that we see. And it is just so stunningly beautiful with its bright colours!
